The 5th Annual
Inspiration Award Dinner
On September 20, 2011, Sports Angels
awarded the Fifth Annual Inspiration Award to
Guardian Angels founder and radio personality
Curtis Sliwa and the Corporate Inspiration Award
to Howard Brenner former president of Drexel,
Burnham, Lambert and a Director of the
National Stroke Foundation.
In addition, Sports Angels is proud to
announce the RALPH BRANCA AWARD to
recognize individuals who have demonstrated a
lifetime of sportsmanship, integrity, and
philanthropy. The same qualities that have been
demonstrated by the first award winner--Sports
Angels board member RALPH BRANCA.

giving.

1st Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award to Rachel Robinson, widow of Jackie Robinson and founder of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Mrs. Robinson was honored in 2007 for her tireless commitment to promoting opportunity through education and developing the leaders of tomorrow through the Foundation’s innovative education and leadership development program. Proceeds from the celebration of the award benefited both the Foundation and helped re-establish the baseball program at P.S. 375, the Jackie Robinson School, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
2nd Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award to former New York Giant George Martin in 2008 for his Journey for 9/11. Martin’s walk across the country to helped raise awareness about the health problems of first responders to the 9/11 tragedy.
3rd Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award was awarded to Rod Gilbert of the New York Rangers for his work supporting children through the Wounded Warriors Foundation, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and the Garden of Dreams Foundation. In addition, Sports Angels also honored Roger Campbell of BGC Partners for his commitment to honor the loss of life at his firm on 9/11 through his continued fund raising efforts
4th Annual Spots Angels Inspiration Award was presented to Bobby Valentine in recognition for all the work he has done for the first responder to the 9/11 tragedy. In addition, Sports Angels honored Derm Hogan from Global Excess partners for this work of behalf of numerous charities both here in the US and in his native Ireland.
5th Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award was awarded to Curtis Sliwa in recognition of his founding of the Guardian Angels; his dedication to the safety and security of the inner city, and his passion for preserving the Street Games of New York City

City of New Orleans to provide sports equipment to Katrina Victims.
The Miracle league of Westchester to allow physically challenged children to
participate in sports activities.
