Meet Sports Angels board members Ralph Branca and Joe Pignatano and many other local sports celebrities for an evening good food, good drink, and great camaraderie. Spring Fund Raiser = $150.00
1st Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award to Rachel Robinson, widow of Jackie Robinson and founder of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Mrs. Robinson was honored in 2007 for her tireless commitment to promoting opportunity through education and developing the leaders of tomorrow through the Foundation’s innovative education and leadership development program. Proceeds from the celebration of the award benefited both the Foundation and helped re-establish the baseball program at P.S. 375, the Jackie Robinson School, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
2nd Annual Sports Angels Inspiration Award to former New York Giant George Martin in 2008 for his Journey for 9/11. Martin’s walk across the country to helped raise awareness about the health problems of first responders to the 9/11 tragedy.
Other recipients of Sports Angels’ grants include:
• Companions in Courage foundation for the Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital.
• City of New Orleans to provide sports equipment to Katrina Victims.
• The Miracle league of Westchester to allow physically challenged children to
participate in sports activities.
4th Annual Spring Kickoff and Sports Auction. This year's event, held on April 21st at Langans on 150 West 47th Street, was a great success. Details and photos will be posted soon.
